Under the Post Gram Suraksha Yojana, rural citizens can invest just Rs. 50 per day and get a lump sum of Rs. 31 lakh on maturity. Under this scheme, the investor gets the facility to pay premium on monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually basis.
Consider for example:
If a person invests for 55 years, he gets Rs 31.60 lakh. At the age of 58, this amount becomes Rs 33.40 lakh. At the same time, if invested for 60 years, a fund of Rs 34.40 lakh is available. The investor gets the full amount back on completion of the age of 80, due to which this scheme promises financial security for life.
Eligibility and documents for joining the scheme
To invest in Post Office Gram Suraksha Scheme, the applicant’s age should be between 19 years and 55 years. The minimum investment amount is Rs. 10,000 and the maximum is Rs. 10 lakh.

- Aadhar card and PAN card
- Proof of address
- Income certificate
- Bank account statement
- Passport size photo
- Phone number
Other special benefits in the scheme
This scheme also provides life insurance benefits. If an investor dies prematurely, the full amount is given to his family by the post office. Additionally, the scheme gives the investor the option to surrender the policy after 03 years, but there is no benefit in this.
After 04 years, investors can also apply for loans under this plan. This facility helps rural citizens in case of emergency financial assistance.
