This note was started by an organization as a weapon against corruption. The idea was from a non-profit organization (NGO) in South India in the year 2007. This NGO named 5th Pillar, based in Tamil Nadu, worked on printing zero notes worth about five lakh rupees. These notes were printed in four languages - Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam and distributed among the people.
Several messages against corruption were written on the note.
This note made against corruption had several messages written on it, including ‘End corruption’, ‘If anyone asks for a bribe, give this note and tell us the matter’, ‘I swear that I will not take it.’ This zero rupee note also has a photo of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, printed on it and the organization’s phone number and email ID printed on the bottom right of the note.
These special notes were given to those who demanded bribes.
