Ambalal Patel has forecast widespread and intense rainfall across Gujarat from June 26 to June 30, with many regions expected to experience relentless downpours. He cautioned that northern, central, southern Gujarat, and parts of Saurashtra could witness extreme weather conditions during this period.
Districts on High Alert
According to Patel’s forecast, Patan, Banaskantha, Mehsana, and Sabarkantha are at higher risk and have been issued special warnings. These areas could experience continuous rain, waterlogging, and local flooding.
Southern Gujarat Faces River Flood Risk
Heavy rainfall is also expected in Navsari and Surat in South Gujarat, with potential flooding in rivers and streams. People living in low-lying and riverbank areas are advised to stay alert and follow local authority advisories.
More Rain in Early July Too
Extending his earlier forecast, Patel warned that from July 1 to July 3, the state may experience another spell of intense rainfall, with 8 to 10 inches of rain expected in many areas. Continuous rain over such a short period could increase the risk of urban flooding.
Central & Eastern Gujarat Also on Radar
Regions like Jamnagar, Panchmahal, Vadodara, and Dahod are also likely to be impacted. Farmers, travelers, and the general public are urged to exercise extra caution. Meanwhile, state authorities have already initiated disaster preparedness measures, including rescue and relief teams.
