Gujarat Rain Forecast August 2025: The rainy season has reached its peak across the state. Amidst the torrential rains all around, the Meteorological Department has now issued a new forecast for the next 6 days. With four rain systems simultaneously active over the state and the fifth system likely to be active soon, a warning of ‘extremely heavy’ rain has been issued in several districts of Gujarat. Citizens have been appealed to be careful and take necessary precautions.
Gujarat Rain Forecast August 2025
According to the notification issued by the Meteorological Department, Meghraja is likely to take the form of a thunderstorm in some districts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra today. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued especially in Navsari, Valsad, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Gir Somnath, which indicates that these areas may receive heavy rain. In addition, a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued in Dang, Tapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Aravalli, Sabarkantha, Botad, Rajkot, Junagadh and Porbandar, indicating the possibility of heavy rain at scattered places.
Heavy rain with thunderstorms forecast tomorrow
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains will continue in most parts of the state tomorrow i.e. on August 18. During this time, there is a high probability of heavy rains accompanied by thunder and wind. Due to the four active rain systems currently, there is a lot of moisture in the atmosphere, which is creating favorable conditions for heavy rains.
Rains will increase in intensity in Saurashtra and South Gujarat on August 19th
The intensity of rain will increase on August 19. On this day, Meghtandav can be seen in the districts of Saurashtra along with South Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Junagadh, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Girsomnath, Amreli, Botad, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Bharuch, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari and Valsad districts. A warning has also been given of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in some areas.
Orange alert in most areas of Saurashtra on August 20th
On August 20, the clouds of danger will deepen over the coastal areas of Saurashtra. ‘Orange alert’ has been issued in Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Tapi, Surat, Bharuch, Narmada along with Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar and Dwarka. While ‘Yellow alert’ will remain in place in the remaining districts of the state, where scattered heavy rains are likely to occur.
Possibility of universal cloudburst on August 21 and 22
Light to moderate rains with thundershowers are expected to continue in most parts of the state on August 21. However, heavy rains may persist in some parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, which may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Gujarat will witness a general cloud cover during August 22. According to weather experts, on this day, parts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat may receive extremely heavy rainfall of 5 to 10 inches. While North and Central Gujarat are also likely to receive significant rainfall of 3 to 6 inches. There is every possibility that Kutch district will also get a good benefit in this rainy round.
