How to Check Mobile Numbers Linked to Your Aadhaar Card

How to Check Mobile Numbers Linked to Your Aadhaar Card: In India, your Aadhaar card is now central to almost every digital and offline transaction — from bank accounts to SIM card purchases. But while Aadhaar has made verification easier, it has also opened doors for misuse.

Millions of users are unaware that multiple SIM cards may be active on their Aadhaar number — some of which they may not even be using or aware of.

In this article, you’ll learn why this is dangerous, how fraudsters exploit Aadhaar, the legal risks, and a complete guide to checking your linked mobile numbers — all using the Sanchar Saathi TAFCOP portal.

New Rules for SIM Card Purchase in India (2025 Update)

To reduce fraud and ensure user accountability, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has made Aadhaar mandatory for mobile connections. As per new guidelines:

  • Aadhaar eKYC is compulsory for new SIM card activation.
  • A maximum of 9 mobile connections per Aadhaar is allowed (for normal users).
  • For businesses or IoT services, a higher number can be granted with permission.
  • Bulk buying of SIMs is monitored and restricted.

If you’ve ever given your Aadhaar at a mobile store or retailer, someone could have misused it to activate extra SIMs under your name.

Why You Must Check SIMs Linked to Your Aadhaar

  1. Avoid Legal Trouble:
If a number registered in your name is used for illegal activity, you could be held responsible. Jail time is possible under the law.
  2. Prevent Cyber Frauds:
Many scammers use Aadhaar copies submitted at shops or online to buy SIM cards fraudulently.
  3. Stay Digitally Safe:
Keep your Aadhaar details secure and regularly monitor mobile numbers linked to you.
